In short: The Matrice 4TD is the thermal-equipped member of the Matrice 4D Series. It combines the thermal imaging payload of the Matrice 4T with the IP55-rated, DJI Dock 3-compatible airframe, advanced wire-detection capability, and 80° upward gimbal tilt found on the Matrice 4D platform.

Integrated multi-sensor imaging for low-visibility operations

The Matrice 4TD integrates three 48 MP visual cameras with an infrared thermal camera to support observation across multiple distances and lighting conditions. The thermal system outputs 640 × 512 video at 30 fps under normal operation, with support for 1280 × 1024 video at 30 fps when the Ultra-High Resolution Infrared Image function is enabled and Night Scene mode is disabled.

For still photography, the thermal camera supports both Normal Mode and UHR Infrared Image Mode, allowing operators to capture single or timed thermal images based on mission requirements.

Endurance, safety, and mission reliability in harsh environments

With up to 47 minutes of maximum flight time, the Matrice 4TD supports extended missions without frequent battery changes. Its obstacle sensing system is designed to detect wires as small as 12 mm while flying at speeds up to 15 m/s, supporting safer operation near utilities and infrastructure.

The 80° upward gimbal tilt enables direct inspection of bridge undersides and overhead structures, while IP55 protection allows continued operation in rain, fog, and dusty conditions common in real-world deployments.

Applications

• Public safety response: thermal and visual assessment during emergencies.
• Infrastructure inspection: powerlines, bridges, towers, and industrial assets.
• Search and rescue: heat detection and long-duration overwatch missions.
• Night operations: visual and thermal coverage after dark.
• Remote monitoring: reliable operation in weather-affected environments.
• Utility inspection: obstacle-aware flight near wires and structures.
• Disaster assessment: post-event damage evaluation in hazardous conditions.
• Perimeter security: long-endurance patrol and observation missions.
• Powerline and substation inspections with advanced LiDAR support

Designed for enterprise reliability

The Matrice 4TD is engineered to deliver consistent performance in environments where visibility, weather resistance, and flight safety are critical. Its integrated sensor suite reduces payload complexity while expanding mission capability.

Combined with the RC Plus 2 Enhanced Controller and DJI’s enterprise transmission systems, the platform supports dependable deployment across demanding operational scenarios.
